Known for the drowsy eyes he spray-paints, Miami street artist Ahol Sniffs Glue recently created a mural with those signature eyes in black, white, silver, and gold in the PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter lobby.
The 12-by-15-foot piece is one of two murals the artist, whose guv’mint name is David Anasagasti, made for our 60-story Downtown Miami tower’s Contemporary Collection.
The other that graces the wall features the sleepy eyes in the colors of the rainbow.
Together, the 305 native artist’s works are called “Local Flavor.” Ahol Sniffs Glue recently partnered with Swatch to showcase his artwork on watches, and AHOL JEWELRY retails at the nearby Pérez Art Museum Miami gift shop.
New residents, VIPs, and brokers gathered at a reception with music by DJ Jay Sample to witness the live painting and unveiling.
The two pieces join a curated art collection in the building that will soon include over 82 pieces and will be showcased during Art Basel 2019.
The collection also includes many spectacular contemporary pieces including a massive 30-foot acrylic painting by Steve Manolis called “Red World” and the “Diving Swans” by Miami-based sculptor Tatiana Blanco.
“We believe that residential towers are becoming the new curators of fine art and therefore are delighted to support, promote and celebrate prominent local artists at PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter,” said developer Dan Kodsi.
“Miami has become an international art world capital, and as the city’s newest landmark we are very pleased to unveil our art collection for our residents’ and guests’ viewing pleasure and showcase these vibrant works of art that echo the fun, energy and excitement that Miami as a major metropolis has come to symbolize.”
PARAMOUNT’s 500-plus residences–90 percent sold to buyers from 57 countries–opened in August.
